This paper presents a novel approach introducing an active acoustic sensing source as an effective method for both fall risks detection and fall prevention intervention. Specifically, a vibrational tactor and microphone were integrated in an ankle band. The vibration can improve balance control via stochastic resonance while the vibrational signal is propagated through the bones and muscles and captured by the microphone for ankle pose estimation.
